Strengthening Financial Accountability: CTI-CFF and BPK RI's Entry Meeting for 2023 Audit

The Entry Meeting for the 2023 Financial Audit between the Coral Triangle Initiative on Coral Reefs, Fisheries, and Food Security (CTI-CFF) and the Indonesian Supreme Audit Institution (Badan Pemeriksa Keuangan RI) marked a significant step towards enhancing financial transparency and accountability for the CTI-CFF Regional Secretariat. Held on April 22, 2024, at the Independence Meeting Room of the BPK office in Jakarta, the meeting was chaired by Dr. Bahtiar Arif SE. M.Fin., Secretary General of BPK.

Attendees included Ikhtaria Syaziah from BPK's Global Partnership Center, alongside auditors. CTI-CFF was represented by Executive Director Dr. Frank Keith Griffin, Deputy Executive Director for Corporate Services Mr. Hanung Cahyono, Deputy Executive Director for Program Services Mr. Christovel R. S. Rotinsulu and Communication and Information Manager, Ms Dewi Satriani.

Both parties introduced their respective organizations and agreed upon the audit scope, methodology, and timeline. Dr. Bahtiar expressed BPK's keen interest in supporting regional institutions like CTI-CFF, leveraging its extensive experience in auditing international bodies.

Dr. Griffin thanked and welcomed BPK's involvement, emphasizing the audit's role in enhancing CTI-CFF's overall management and performance.

Crucially, both parties underscored that the audit's purpose isn't fault-finding but rather providing assurance and mapping out a mechanism to help improve operational procedures, especially in financial management. This collaborative effort underscores a commitment to transparency, accountability, and the shared goal of fostering sustainable marine ecosystems within the Coral Triangle region.
