ADB’s Coral Triangle Initiative Southeast Asia Knowledge Management (KM) Project brought the Coral Triangle Day celebration to five schools in Taytay, Palawan, where teachers and students participated in an orientation on mangroves and solid waste management to help them implement actual field projects. The event also included an introduction to the Coral Triangle Day and the KM Project; a lecture on climate change adaptation; launch of a story-writing contest called Dagat Natin (Our Seas); and ocean-themed games. A total fo 379 students, teachers, local officials, and civil society representatives participated in the CT Day celebration which the KM Project organized as part of its Bayani ng Kalikasan (Heroes of the Environment) integrated communication campaign that aims to raise awareness among students and their teachers about the importance of coastal and marine resource management and climate change adaptation (CCA) and their role in this process.
