The CTI CFF Regional Secretariat supported the 2 nd Learning Exchange Workshop for Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) of Southeast Asia and the Atlantic in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia, from 12-14 October 2022. The workshop was part of the EU funded Ocean Governance Project to promote and strengthen networking and partnership among managers of MPAs on both areas, and was organized by WWF-Malaysia, the Sabah Parks and Sabah Tourism Board.
Mr. Gustaaf Lumiu, Deputy ED Corporate Services, representing the Executive Director of CTI CFF Regional Secretariat, Dr. Moh. Kushairi bin Moh. Rajuddin, said in his welcoming remarks, that learning exchange among the parks is important to boost existing effort towards marine conservation and sustainable development of the marine sector regionally and globally. Strong networking among MPAs will help to achieve Goal 3 of CTI CFF RPOA: Region-Wide Coral Triangle Marine Protected Area System (CTMPAS) in place and fully functional.
RS expects CTI CFF will be resolute in effective management of marine protected areas in the region and believes that it would improve livelihoods and social security that contribute to higher economic productivity and more efficient governance of marine resources.
