CTC Center for Marine Conservation Opens an Exhibition Hall in Sanur, Bali
The first exhibition space in Indonesia dedicated entirely to marine protection and conservation efforts was officially opened in Sanur, Bali Sanur, May 20, 2023. This exhibition space explores the fusion of art, science, culture, and marine conservation. Several large-scale art installations showcasing the creativity of Indonesian and international artists in presenting the beauty of the ocean are displayed interactively to highlight the charismatic marine life in the Coral Triangle region while providing solutions to the threats of climate change and plastic pollution. Visitors can also participate in marine conservation through coral adoption, online courses, or join field trips and fun learning activities.
The exhibition space is managed by the Coral Triangle Center (CTC) Center for Marine Conservation, one of CTI-CFF partners whose dedication and tireless efforts have been instrumental in advancing the collective mission of conserving and protecting the precious ecosystems of the Coral Triangle. CTC maintains extending invaluable assistance, knowledge sharing, and capacity building initiatives to the CTI-CFF Secretariat and member countries.
Dr. Mohd. Kushairi Bin Mohd. Rajuddin, Executive Director of CTI-CFF Regional Secretariat, expressed in his message at the opening event, “As we explore this Exhibition Hall, let us reflect upon the significance of our collective responsibility to safeguard the Coral Triangle's rich marine heritage. Let us be reminded that the oceans are not only a source of immense beauty but also vital resources that sustain livelihoods and support countless communities. The challenges we face are complex, but by fostering collaboration and nurturing a deeper connection with our oceans, we can pave the way towards a sustainable and vibrant future.”
Through this exhibition space, CTC aims to convey to the public the beauty and importance of the oceans in the daily lives and future. Through art, science, culture, and technology, CTC depict the threats to the oceans, as well as interactive solutions. Rili Djohani, Executive Director of CTC said her hope in her speech that visitors will be inspired and motivated to take action and care for the seas and the life within."
