Indonesia Affirms as the Host Nation for the Coral Triangle Initiative Regional Secretariat

An essential phase was recently undertaken pertaining to the finalization of the draft Presidential Regulation for the ratification of the Host Country Agreement Between the Government Of The Republic Of Indonesia And The Regional Secretariat Of The Coral Triangle Initiative On Coral Reefs, Fisheries And Food Security On Hosting And Granting Of Privileges And Immunities took place on Friday, February 16, 2024, in Jakarta. Mrs. Effin Martiana, Head of the Legal Bureau of the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries led and facilitated the discussion.

 

In attendance were key representatives from various ministries, including te Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment, the State Secretariat Ministry, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Environment and Forestry. Additionally, the meeting saw the participation of significant stakeholders from the Coral Triangle Initiative on Coral Reefs, Fisheries, and Food Security (CTI-CFF) Regional Secretariat.

From the CTI-CFF Regional Secretariat, Acting Executive Director Christovel RS. Rotinsulu and Deputy Executive Director for Corporate Services Hanung Cahyono were present, adding valuable insights and perspectives to the discussions. Their attendance underscored the collaborative nature of the agreement, emphasizing the regional commitment to the preservation and sustainable management of marine resources within the Coral Triangle region.

Mrs. Effin Martiana, with her expertise in legal matters pertaining to maritime affairs and fisheries, skillfully guided the participants through the intricacies of the draft Presidential Regulation. The contributions of representatives from other ministries, particularly from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance and the State Secretariat Ministry, provided a deeper understanding of the regional implications and collaborative efforts involved in the proposed agreement.

 

 

This collaborative effort and multi-stakeholder engagement reflect the importance placed on the successful ratification of the Host Country Agreement. The meeting marked a significant step toward finalizing the draft regulation and reinforcing Indonesia's commitment to regional cooperation, environmental conservation, and sustainable marine resource management within the Coral Triangle region.
