These reports highlighted activities and achievements related to Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) and their alignment with RPOA 2.0 goals. Member countries shared their progress and future plans, emphasizing the importance of ongoing efforts and collaboration.

TWG Prioritization Workshop with CTCF

The Regional Secretariat reminded members of the upcoming Climate Change Adaptation TWG Prioritization Workshop with the Coral Triangle Conservation Fund (CTCF). Scheduled for March 6, 2024, in Manado, this workshop aims to align TWG priorities with the CTCF strategic plan.

SOM-18 Decisions

The meeting reviewed decisions from SOM-18, emphasizing the need for updates on the ministerial-level signature for the Climate Change Communique. Member countries were asked to provide their progress on this matter. Indonesia and Papua New Guinea will check internally and inform the Regional Secretariat, Malaysia requested a new official request due to a ministerial change, and the Philippines mentioned that the document is currently under review.

Workplan and Budget for 2024

The 2024 workplan and budget for the CCA TWG were presented, highlighting a tentative plan for a physical meeting in Q3 2024. This event, which includes the Regional Exchange and the 2nd Executive Course, is scheduled to be held in one of the Southeast Asian countries with potential support from SuFiA TS. The 2nd Executive Course aims to provide data on the vulnerability levels in the CT6 region, targeting middle management from related ministries.

Proposed Physical Event 2024

The planned physical meeting for the CCA TWG, along with the Regional Exchange and the 2nd Executive Course, will be held in Jakarta, Indonesia, during the week of May 13-17, 2024. Discussions are ongoing to finalize the event details, and official invitations will be sent out once everything is confirmed. The event aims to build on previous efforts, including the 2019 CEPA workshop, with a focus on developing Communication, Education, and Public Awareness (CEPA) strategies for CCA. Malaysia suggested incorporating feedback from the 2019 CEPA workshop into the upcoming workshop.

The meeting concluded with closing remarks from the Chair representative of the CCA TWG and the Regional Secretariat, expressing gratitude for the productive discussions and continued dedication to advancing climate change adaptation efforts.
